Safari vs Apple's Own Website

This isn't a Pro App hint, per se, but since I look up a lot of info about Final Cut via Safari when Safari doesn't work it becomes a problem solving a problem with Final Cut.

If you see this error:

Request Entity Too Large. The requested resource /kb/index does not allow request data with GET requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. Apache/1.3.33 Server at support.apple.com Port 80.

When looking at Apple's site the ONLY fix for me (other than relaunching Safari) is to delete every single Apple cookie in Safari. I don't have the patience to delete one at a time and find the culprit, maybe someone out there does.

Oh, another weird thing about Safari and Apple's own site:

People using Safari 4 see the double text-entry box at discussions.apple.com, those with Firefox don't. You'd think Apple would fix this by now.

Final Cut Quicktime Export Include Bugs

Here is a fun bug which, according to the friend who emailed me the screenshots, seems completely random. When you export to Quicktime from Final Cut there are a few options. There's Include, which lets you decide to include audio, video or both and there is Markers which lets you choose what kind of markers to retain when you export.

The interesting thing is that the exports from corrupted menus like these seemed normal, he told me. I wonder what would have happened had he chosen some of the strange options and exported.

This is what the menu should look like:

But here are some bizarre options that show up when things get corrupted:

Above, the Markers option has Left Center and Right as if it's only audio.

My favorite, the Include menu is a list of fonts.

And this is the one my friend saw most often. The include menu doesn't list Audio, Video or Both, but just (seemingly) audio channel positions.

My only suggestion for him was to trash his prefs and see if the problem persisted. So far, he says it's back to normal.

FCS Remover gets another update

For some reason FCS Remover has received another update bringing it to version 2.5.2. There's nothing major listed in the changelog that's new as far as I can tell however a release this soon after a prior one usually indicates something significant was wrong with the earlier version.

What's new in this version (2.5.2)

Bug fix: General bug fixes
Feature: Support for Final Cut Studio (2009)
Enhancement: Improved speed and responsiveness
