They must have moved it, so I searched in Finder and found it within the GoPro app. Just use Finder and use Go>Go to Folder and paste "/Applications/GoPro/Tools" (no quotes) into the field. You'll see it, but you won't be able to save/edit it. I had to right click the file and choose "Get info", then change the file permissions (at the bottom) to allow everyone to "Read & Write", then I could fix it. Just to be safe I switched it back to "Read only" afterwards. Seems to have worked. I'm using a Hero3+ Silver on a Macbook Air with Mavericks (10.9.5) if that matters.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11000686641807833577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2035590378245724759.post-76751887018678749572014-12-05T06:40:27.200-05:002014-12-05T06:40:27.200-05:00Ah, thanks for this! I bought a WD essential about a year ago and finally opened it and hooked it up. Unfortunately I didn't read about the software before allowing it to invade and constantly index my Mac Mini. Customer service was horrible. First you have to press one for English and if you don't it defaults to South of the Border Spanish.
I got disconnected. The help told me it was out of warranty and I'd have to pay $14.95 next time I called. The paper inside says I have 30 days of phone support after the first call, not after I open or buy it.
Called again and support told me I had to call on Monday at 11 A.M. as there was no one to help with my problem. Mac was running so slow, I haven't seen so many beachballs since 2003.
Went through the steps above that I got from WD's site and it kept telling me that I couldn't hide or get rid of that icon with the firmware version I had. I'd already installed the firmware twice from WD site.
Finally took my AppCleaner and dragged that icon to it. AppCleaner found all that was associated with this and I Securely deleted all but the uninstaller, just in case I needed it again. Rebooted the Mac and the icon is no more. Going to reformat the drive and start all over again.
Oh yeah, first support character told me they don't recommend partitioning the drive, which I'd done first. What a load.
It also didn't back up pictures that were in the Picture folder that were not in a folder of their own. I had to drag those to the drive icon on the desktop.
By the way, WD owns Seagate, Samsung, part of Toshiba (the Thailand manufacturing) and a couple other HDD manufacturing. Buffalo and Acomdata still make their own. I have one of both and a Hammer external HDD that are old and still working fine without extra software. Toshiba still makes their own too, they just sold the Thailand operation to WD.
Thanks for the article.Dantihesishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08841631557133759088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2035590378245724759.post-70891809233457512322013-07-31T16:42:58.689-04:002013-07-31T16:42:58.689-04:00If you use the program "Ripit" ( http://...If you use the program "Ripit" ( http://thelittleappfactory.com/ripit/ - $24 ) on the Mac, you can easily create a copy of the DVD on your desktop and the Video_TS folder will show up.

Just open Ripit, insert the DVD and the hit "Rip". Once you have the DVD on your hard drive with the Video_TS visible you can do whatever you want with it. I just received 5 DVDs at work that had invisible file structure and used this to quickly fix this problem.

Some good Mac programs after you've ripped your dvd are:
DVDxDV Pro - use this to convert it to a DV stream that you can edit in Final Cut Pro. Cinematize also does this.

Or you can use RipIt to make MP4 streams. It uses Handbrake as it's engine, so if you want to use Handbrake after you "Rip" your DVD you will have more control over the features. For instance, RipIt would arbitrarily crop my video when going to MP4, but using Handbrake I was able to set it to always make the videos 640x480.Lane Wyrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10423748291744624995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2035590378245724759.post-44713888880316816432013-07-28T19:50:44.436-04:002013-07-28T19:50:44.436-04:00It's a great tip.
